“… it is incredibly moving to see children of all ages responding to and communicating through the music”

OTAKAR KRAUS MUSIC TRUST (OKMT)
was founded in memory of OtakarKraus OBE, whose career as an opera singer embraced the world’s greatest opera houses. He was also a celebrated voice teacher. Matthew Best, Gwynne Howell, Robert Lloyd, Jonathan Summers, Sir John Tomlinson and Willard White were just some of his pupils.

Originally the Otakar Kraus Memorial Trust, the charity was set up to fund the work of the Marylebone Music Therapy Unit. This closed in 1993 and to ensure that the work continued, Margaret Lobo and her husband Walter built a Studio in their garden in Twickenham. To better reflect the musical nature of the work of the Trust, its name was changed to Otakar Kraus Music Trust.

OKMT now provides over 2,000 individual and 300 group music therapy sessions each year. It does not turn its back on anyone and will do everything in its power to help those who need its services.
